WELCOME!!!

Since our retirement several years ago, we have
been on the move almost continuously: sailing Live Now, long distance hiking, and taking extensive road trips (therapy hasn't helped). We established this Blog to share our small adventures with family and friends and, as our aging memories falter, remind ourselves of just how much fun we're having. We hope you enjoy it. Your comments and questions are greatly appreciated. Our reports here are mostly true except in those cases where there is no way for others to verify the actual facts.

Trail of 100 Sequoias

Decided on Sunday that it would be a good day to leave camp and drive up and see the Trail of 100 Sequoias.  On the way, we looked for a place to have breakfast, but found nothing until a couple miles past the entrance to the trees.  Out in the middle of nowhere was a cafe where they were getting ready for a chili cook off later that day, and we had a great breakfast and doubled back to see the trees.  Saw the trees (along with 10,000 other tree enthusiasts), and decided to make a big loop drive back to camp.  No sense in heading back early, as the neighbors were kinda noisy, etc.  We found a beautiful little town called Springville that had a lovely little park with covered picnic tables.  We parked and decided to have a picnic.  We had been there about 20 minutes or so when 3 other people landed on the picnic table next to us.  They had recognized our car as being the one they also parked behind in Kernville the day before and struck up a conversation.  There were two brothers from Austria, and a woman from Vietnam.  The one couple lived in San Francisco and the guy's brother was here visiting.  We talked about places we had all been, what we had enjoyed the most, that kind of thing.  We probably talked for about an hour.  It was very pleasant.  A real treat to meet such nice, interesting people.
